Boat Handler

Serve customers, work at a beautiful waterfront-paddling center, work very hard, with a wonderful staff, enjoy great benefits, and have lots of fun.

Part-time (weekends and holidays) in April, May June and September;

  • Rental Boat Handler

General Description:

  • Take wonderful care of customers – help size paddles and lifejackets, carry boats to the water, adjust equipment to fit customers, help launch, monitor departure for safety, help returning customers land and exit from boats, carry boats to wash station, clean boats, carry boats into boathouse, keep neat and equipment organized.
  • 3 seasonal positions available – Weekends until June 22, full-time through Labor Day, weekends the rest of September

Prerequisites:

  • Cheerful and outgoing(lots of smiles), positive and interested in helping customers

·         Empathetic to customers’ needs

·         Works well with others, likes to work hard, likes a variety of types of work – some physical, some intellectual, likes to learn new things – inquisitive, explorative

  • Likes to work in an outdoor environment
  • Able to follow Cascade company procedures and guidelines
  • Able to plan schedule and meet commitments
  • Able to lift 65 pounds
  • Current First Aid & CPR
  • Washington State Patrol background check required
  • Organized

Description:

·         Greet and assist visitors

·         Ensure paperwork is properly completed

·         Assist customers by carrying and adjusting boats, fitting paddles and lifejackets, as well as safety equipment on and off the water, requiring heavy lifting up to 65 pounds (training provided)

·         Keep office secure

·         Help keep working areas clean and orderly

  • Communicate with management regarding ways to improve
  • Attend staff meetings

·         Assist instructional staff as needed

  • Knowledgeable about our trips and lessons and pleased to share that information with rental customers (training provided)
  • Able to provide basic canoe and kayak instruction (training provided)
  • Able to provide a safe environment and able to perform open water rescues of canoes and kayaks (training provided)
