Navigation, Boating Safety &ACA Trip Planning

Add a new and important dimension to your kayak touring with our Navigation courses.  These programs are filled with hands-on projects and exercises designed to give you practical skills immediately applicable in your paddling.  You will work with charts, a plotter, a divider, a parallel ruler and a compass.

In our Coastal Navigation 1 class you will be introduced to the basics of Navigation.  We will start with understanding nautical charts and introducing students to boating safety and nautical rules of the road. This course combined with our Level 1 Touring course meet the equivalency standards for The Mountianeer’s basic course.

Continue your experience with our Coastal Navigation & Trip Planning course.  In this course you will have lots of opportunity to practice exercises and real world problems at your tabletop.  Using the navigation and trip planning skills learned in the course we will finish the class by planning and taking a day trip to practice your new skills!  It’s fun and rewarding!  "I couldn’t imagine going sea kayaking without first taking this class,” an enthusiastic student emphasized.
